5 reasons to go on a driving holiday
Travel is a very important consideration for any holidaymaker and deciding whether to opt for flights, ferries or driving can be daunting.
However, the benefits of a self-drive holiday are becoming ever more appealing because petrol and diesel prices are at their lowest for several years, plus the cost of crossing the channel is near a historical low.
Alfresco Holidays share their top 5 reasons to go on a driving holiday below.
1. No baggage limits
With no baggage weight or size issues to worry about, take any extras you like, including inflatables for fun in the pool or sports gear for those after an active holiday
2. Watch the pennies
In comparison to flying, driving holidays are kinder to the wallet with ferry transport from as little as £78 standard return from Dover to Calais, with a crossing time of just 90 minutes
3. Do it your own way
Driving gives you the flexibility to travel and see exactly what you want, building your own itinerary as you go. You also have the freedom to choose a two-centre holiday
4. Home comforts on the road
Taking your own car on holiday means you can bring those home comforts with you, from the kids car seats to portable DVD players or even air con, it’s the little essentials that make your holiday
5. Take your own car snacks
Pack the car with your kids’ favourite foods, from that must have breakfast cereal to tomato sauce that goes with everything, it’s a sure fire way to avoid any issues with fussy eaters
